13th September 2020
We are very excited that we are able to run the Country Tour in this extraordinary year and online entries are now open via Eventbrite (click here). Of course we have had to make some changes to try to keep everyone safe, and these are set out below.
The route is the same as for the last few years, with the addition of a number of newly built jumps (all optional!), and the start/finish will once again be in the Park in Brent Pelham. There is good access for lorries and trailers, a huge parking area on old parkland turf and...
The Black Horse, Brent Pelham, which is a short walk from the parking area, will be providing a special menu for those involved in the ride consisting of rolls filled with a premium quality beef burger, bacon or a jumbo sausage as well as drinks from their bar of course! They have a large, beautiful outdoor area where you can eat or drink anything that you have bought from the pub.
We are only taking entries online, using Eventbrite, you can enter by clicking here. Entry fees are £30 per rider for those 16 years and over on 13th September and £20 per rider for those 15 years and under. This includes a donation of £5 per rider to the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance.
Please follow us on Facebook or email laura@pitmans.net with any questions
We have introduced some Covid-19 related changes this year to keep you all safe, as follows;
- maintain social distancing at all times.
- park at least 10m from the next trailer or lorry.
- No spectators. Maximum of one helper per rider. Dogs are allowed but please keep them on a lead at all times.
- Leave promptly once you have completed the ride (and once you have visited the Black Horse to try their special ride menu and to have a drink!)
- hand sanitizer will be provided on site but please bring your own face masks, gloves and hand sanitizer.
- sadly there will be no Secretary's tent, numbers or rosettes this year to limit contact as much as possible and, as in previous years, entry will be online only (click here).
- even more sadly, as you are all so generous, we do not think it is appropriate to take donations to the Essex & Herts Ambulance on the day, so we have increased the entry fee by £5 per rider and will donate this sum to them. This is the MINIMUM sum and in previous years many of you have been very generous and have donated far more than this. PLEASE could you go to the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance's website (click here) and make a further donation if you would like to give more than this minimum sum
The Country Tour Sponsored Ride in aid of the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance will take place on Sunday 13th September 2020 at The Park, Brent Pelham, which is set in a beautiful, rural area in north Hertfordshire about 5 miles east of Buntingford, 7 miles north east of Puckeridge and 10 miles north west of Bishops Stortford. Access is via the B1038 and the event will be clearly signed on the day.
The ride will be approximately twelve miles long, with a six mile option, and will go south from Brent Pelham towards Albury and Furneux Pelham following a well-marked route, with almost no roads, mainly across private land which is not generally open to the public. There will be a mixture of open views, woodland, parkland with numerous optional jumps along the way.
There will be delicious food and drinks at the start/finish provided by the Black Horse, Brent Pelham as well as a refreshment stop on the route. A photographer will be there all day and you will be able to buy photos online after the event from www.markdalton.zenfolio.com/ct . A first aider will be present and a vet will be on call.
